The Great Idaho ShakeOut – October 18th 2012

by admin on October 17, 2012

The city of Stites will join thousands of people who will Drop, Cover, and Hold On at 10:18 a.m. on October 18th in the 2012 Great Idaho ShakeOut!

What is the Great Idaho ShakeOut?

The Great Idaho ShakeOut is an annual opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes: “Drop, Cover and Hold On.” The ShakeOut has also been organized to encourage you, your community, your school, or your organization to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies, and to secure your space in order to prevent damage and injuries.

More than 12.5 million people were registered to participate in ShakeOut drills worldwide in 2011. Participating is a great way for your family to become better prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes.

While the potential earthquake hazards depend upon your location, you could be anywhere when an earthquake strikes: at home, at work, at school or even on vacation.

What we do now will determine our quality of life after our next big earthquake. Are you prepared to survive and recover quickly?
